When I started middle school, there was another girl in my grade that was also named Sonya. Though I am Sonia spelled with an I, I would always get confused when classmates or teachers called out my name because I wasn’t sure if they were calling for me or the other Sonya.
My friend suggested the nickname “Sunny” for me. She thought I was bright and always happy, just like the sun and weather. The name has stuck with me. My personality, my professional aspirations, and lifestyle all work off of my nickname. I want to be the light that makes a difference in the lives of people around me.
As an aspiring public relations professional, I am interested in all things clean beauty as I have struggled with eczema since I was young. I am also extremely passionate about the food industry as I come from a family of restauranteurs and chefs. But with my language skills, I am open to working internationally with knowledge of different cultures and businesses. As for now, I will fight on at USC and make long lasting connections!
